Sebastien Sanz de Santamaria received a BFA from the L'École Supérieure des Beaux Arts de Montpellier Agglomération (FR). Currently he is the director of Residency Unlimited in New York City, a not-for-profit arts organisation exploring innovative art residency formats and fostering customised residencies to support and advance the practices of local and international artists and curators. Since 2001 he has been closely involved in the development of the artist-run Flux Factory and has collaborated on group projects organized with Flux Factory within institutions such as the Queens Museum of Arts and the New Museum. From 2004 to 2009 Sanz de Santamaria was the assistant director of the international residency program at Location One.

During his residency Sanz de Santamaria presented lectures and round-table discussions on cultural production in an ever-changing economic climate under the title Space Ain't the Place at Centre for Visual Arts Zuidoost (CBK Zuidoost) and GEMAK in The Hague.
