Hu Wei is a visual artist. He holds a BA in Fine Arts from the Central Academy of Fine Art (CAFA) in Beijing. Hu Wei’s art practice is process based and unfolds as an artistic alteration of individual experiences and surrounding contexts. He employs a variety of media to establish different connections between ‘external universes’ and ‘art tales’. Hu Wei creates his work both in tiny private spaces and public space, and uses his body as easily for his art practice as (found) materials. His work has been shown in numerous exhibitions, among others at the CECUT Museum (MX), Inside-Out Art Museum (CN) and He Xiangning Art Museum (CN). After his graduation Hu Wei collaborated with the Beijing based residency programme Institute for Provocation as associate artist and coordinator. Currently Hu Wei is based in the Netherlands for his Master in Fine Arts at DAI (Dutch Art Institute).
During his residency Hu Wei created the work The World of the Hard and the Soft.
